If you have a work-related psychological injury, your state or territory workers' compensation scheme may cover psychology sessions — with nothing to pay at any point (source). Psychologists listed under WorkCover on this site bill your insurer directly.
💡 Your claim must be accepted before treatment costs are covered. Your GP can help with the claims process. Select your state below for scheme-specific information.
Find your state or territory
WorkCover is managed by each state and territory. Select your location for specific guidance:

- WA — WorkCover WA
- SA — ReturnToWorkSA
- ACT — ACT Workers Comp
- TAS — WorkCover Tasmania

Commonwealth employees (APS, Commonwealth authorities)? Your scheme is Comcare, not a state WorkCover scheme. See our Comcare psychologist guide for specific information.
What to expect with any WorkCover claim
Regardless of your state, the process is similar:
- Report the injury to your employer as soon as possible
- See your GP — get a WorkCover medical certificate and tell them your injury is work-related
- Lodge a claim through your employer or directly with your state's scheme
- Await claim acceptance — insurers must decide usually within 28 days
- Start treatment — once accepted, find a WorkCover psychologist on this site
