TAC Psychologist Victoria — No Gap TAC Psychology & Transport Accident Support

TAC psychologist Victoria — no gap, fully funded transport accident support

ClearAccess Psychology · Last updated 29 July 2026

The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) covers psychology treatment for people injured in transport accidents in Victoria (source). When you see a TAC-listed psychologist on this site, you pay nothing at any point.

💡 Both at-fault and not-at-fault drivers are covered. Passengers, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians are also eligible (source).

Already have a TAC claim?

📋 You need a referral from a GP or treating doctor before accessing TAC-funded psychology. Make sure you have this before booking.

You can book directly with any TAC-listed psychologist on this site. Here's what you're entitled to:

  • Psychology sessions for psychological injuries related to your transport accident
  • No gap fee — TAC pays the psychologist directly, so you pay nothing at any point
  • Session approvals depend on timing (see details below)
  • Covers all road users — drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians

Session approval gates

The number of sessions TAC approves depends on how long it has been since your accident:

  • First 6 sessions within 90 days of accident — automatically approved at the TAC rate
  • Sessions 7+ within 90 days — your psychologist will need to submit a Mental Health Treatment Plan for TAC review and approval
  • After 90 days — approval is needed after just 3 sessions, with a Mental Health Treatment Plan required

Your psychologist will manage these approvals on your behalf. Always confirm your session count and timing with them so you know where you stand.

What to do when you book

Tell the psychologist you have a TAC claim and provide your claim number. Confirm that you have a GP referral and ask about session limits based on your claim timeline. The psychologist will bill TAC directly — so you pay nothing at any point.

Don't have a TAC claim yet?

If you were injured in a transport accident in Victoria, here's how to get TAC coverage:

  1. Report the accident to TAC — you can lodge a claim online through the TAC website or call them within 30 days of the accident (or as soon as possible) (source)
  2. See your GP — get a referral for psychological treatment. Your GP will need to confirm the accident and the need for treatment
  3. Await claim acceptance — TAC will assess your claim and notify you of the outcome
  4. Start treatment — once accepted, find a TAC psychologist on this site and book your first session

Who can claim?

  • Anyone injured in a transport accident in Victoria
  • Drivers, passengers, motorcyclists, cyclists, and pedestrians
  • Both at-fault and not-at-fault drivers are covered
  • Interstate visitors who are injured in a Victorian transport accident may also be covered
